Calculator to estimate quantity of siding to buy for the project
Siding calculator estimates total walls area, number of siding panels and quantity of siding boxes to purchase for up to four rectangular and two triangular walls at a time.
Input parameters: 1 H – Height of house wall in feet. Inches values should be entered as real number means 3 inches = 0.25 feet; 6” = 0.5’; 9” = 0.75’ and so on. 2 L – Length of house wall in feet. Input real numbers only. 3 S – Subtractions on the wall in square feet. In subtractions should be included all areas on walls which are not covered by siding, including windows and doors. 4 Area in square feet covered by a single piece or panel of vinyl, aluminum, steel, fiber cement or wood siding. This parameter cannot be calculated as simple panel length by width multiplication, but overlap factor must be taken into account. 5 How many square feet of exterior wall will be covered by one box of siding. 6 Adding an extra 10% while buying a siding is very typical for majority of basic construction or home renovation projects. 5% might be insufficient amount because there is always a chance of transportation damages, defects or unplanned usage. While installing siding on complex custom irregular shapes walls waste factor could be increased up to 25% or even more. Computed parameters: 7 Total walls area is an actual walls area in square feet and squares (100 ft2) which should be covered with siding excluding subtractions. 8 Number of siding panels is an actual amount of siding pieces necessary to obtain for completing certain siding project including defined waste factor. 9 Number of cases to buy is an actual quantity of siding cases necessary to purchase for performing siding installation task. |
