Read about remodeling costs and estimating labor expenses first Calculating costs of home remodeling projectsHow much does it cost to remodel a house? How we estimate our installation prices and remodeling expensesAll remodeling costs are up-to-date charges for completing certain task while remodeling a house. Each article clearly defines what charges are for and before you read it do not make any assumptions. Estimated fees in the charts are for basic installation. On any renovation project additional fees are unavoidable and preparation work will be quoted separately base on work complexity and time spent. Replacement cannot be equated with standard installation and typically will be estimated at 30% - 70% higher rates. There no fixed fees or average charges for repair work unless eliminating any type of problem is a part of a long term maintenance contract for a fixed monthly or yearly fee. But simple replacement can be estimated roughly before in-home inspection. Accuracy and minimum requirementsAll charges are accurate fees for the projects which met minimum requirements determined by a contractor accounting minimum job order, customization level and overall work complexity. Note: every installer, contractor or remodeling company will have own rates, charges and fees. It is nearly impossible that three estimates issued by different contractors for the same scope of work will be identical. Minimum charges and small projectsSmall remodeling projects will be estimated at higher rates. Every contractor will determine minimum charge no matter how small the project is. CustomizationCustom work cannot be priced based on average or typical fees. Only a local contractor will issue an estimate for a custom renovation project after analyzing work complexity. Material expensesProjects which include materials expenses estimated as a total charge if a contractor will purchase available in-stock materials at his own discretion. Per hour fee vs hourly wageAll labor costs estimated based on a contract work and term hourly wage is inapplicable. Contractor or professional installer has all necessary tools in possession, drive the work truck, pay insurance and per hour fee must cover all business expenses plus generate some profit. Hourly wage is an amount paid to employee by hiring company (or a contractor) which guaranty permanent or temporary employment and cover business-related expenses. What is national average cost to remodel a house? We are not stating our costs are national average. In any case “average remodeling cost” is a very low value term. Our prices are for basic installation with definition of typical extra charges. Remodeling project cannot be estimated before analyzing all details. Cost to remodel a house per square foot is a result of what was done not a projection factor from which to start planning the budget.
